Epiphany

I just realized that my last post left you guys thinking I was a Naruto fanatic... Well, it has been approximitely 2 weeks since then and I rather apathetically report that I do not fancy it as much as I first did. I suppose you could compare it to Twilight, it takes you in at first, but shortly after you come to your senses or the joy wears off and you find you don't like it as much as you once did. Of course I still like it, but I don't watch 7 hours each day. Actually, I reckon I hardly watch it once a week. More like once every 2 weeks.

Anyway, enough about that, since I took the liberty to write a post I might as well update you on my life so far, and any plans for the future though many of them remain subject to change. Over the past few weeks few things have happened which are really worth writing about, but I will tell you about Jessica's birthday party which was last Sunday.

Jessica's Birthday Party- Last Sunday Jessica had her 14th birthday party which I can confidently say, was fun. Of course, it would have been much more fun if everyone who was invited had come, and even some of our blog followers, but nonetheless it was an enlightening experience- and I do mean that quite literally. I was a little late arriving- or at least it felt that way- but felt a relieved when I saw that Derek and I reached at the same time, and Dev and Kavita were not even there. When they did show up we went through all the formalities (hugging each other, commenting on height, and briefly discussing how we all thought we were "almost not going to come"). We were also introduced to Ian's cousin, Terry. Terry was what you could call- random. He asked if he could whip someone with my hair... Anyway, after that we saw Jessica's lime green DS and a 'Personal Trainer: Cooking' game she has. We spent a bit of time critisizing the colour and I explained that I had the same game for math... Anyway, after that we all went to Jessica's living room and talked. Whilst the celebrations Ian brought a rubber hammer which made a "boing" sound every time you hit it, so we all hit each other and Katrina and I almost murdered Kavita. At that point Kavita pulled it from Katrina, and hit her on the arm so hard, the hammer, or rather mallet broke. Ian was made and claimed he felt like killing Kavita- there was an awkward silence there. Then, to break the silence we played truth or dare and I had to wear Terry's sweater and have my picture in it, and Sonia had to tell what the worst thing she had ever done was and that turned out to be something... well, I'll let Jessica tell you what. Then we played Rockband, Mario Kart, and some Ninjabread Man game which had terrible 2.5D graphics. Then we ate, and then we were forced to go to the park. We ended up taking 2 balls, a tennis ball (which did not bounce) and a soccer ball. Jessica took the soccer ball and I took the tennis ball, and the entire way Derek was begging us for them. He tried Jessica first but it did not work, then he tried to get me to give it, but I didn't. I think I just played with it. Then at the park Jess, Sonia, Ian, Dev, and Jess's sister played on some round thing, and I played catch with Derek since he somehow acquired the soccer ball. Then the game became a little more interesting (this started because he said I could not catch therefore I was provoked) when we started running and throwing it and adding a bunch of extra twists and turns to it. I managed to catch all of them and so did he. Then we kicked the ball around and his cousins joined in, and in the meanwhile Jessica and everyone else went on about how I had joined the "dark side" and therefore they were shunning me. I also think that was the reason they did not play soccer with us. Anyway, we went for a walk afterward and then back to her house where we had cake. I ate the slowest... Then we opened presents and I got Jessica "Wicked Lovely" and a scrapbook and we both laughed. Then she opened the rest of the presents and then we all played Rockband again- I sucked. It is much easier on the PSP because you have 4 buttons the entire time. And then a Barney toy came out of nowhere and Jess's sister, Sonia and I kept on pressing it and it said some funny stuff like "Let's play a game!" or "You are my friend." and eventually Derek got so annoyed he threw it on the floor and kicked it until it started repeating words... We later thought about dropping it off at Jameson's house, but thought he did not deserve it. The rest of the time I pet Jess's pets, played more Wii, and talked to everyone. Kavita and Katrina left first, then Dev and I, and then everyone else. We had a lot of fun.

Now that I think about it that really was everything interesting about my week. Unless you include swimming lessons... There is a kid from grade 7 band who goes there, an Asian kid who plays trumpet, and another kid whose name I do not know, and my instructor looks like Danny Gokey. The funny thing is, my old instructor went to North Park (high school) when he was in high school, and my current instructor's brother currently goes there, weird eh? Anyway, today is my last day so hopefully I pass. Wish me luck.

Lastly, I am going to Florida on the 30th of July and am coming back on the 13th of August. I don't know if I will be able to post/comment/email/tweet there, so don't be afraid if you don't hear from me in a while.

Oh, and on a side note, I seem to have a recent fascination with quantum physics.

Oh yeah, I forgot about my registration.
It's so stupid, you can't get your timetable unless you pay--I thought education was supposed to be free?

I really enjoyed this post! This time, it was I who lost myself in it as I read on.

1) Honestly, the Twilight/Naruto analogy is the cleverest thing I have read in a while. It rings so very true!

2) Oh the party sounded fun! Random (as in, by nature) guests really add an unexpected spice to events don't they! Happy (belated) Birthday, Jessica!

3) Enjoy Florida! You'll need your swimming lessons there, so good luck! Oh and Danny Gokey-ahahahahaha!

4) Quantum physics? You're on your own with that one, kid!

Thanks. It's a big compliment coming from you.

1) Thank you. I found them similar because my reactions to both fads when I first experienced them were the same, and now- weeks afterward, my passing remarks are again the same. I guess it is the same with all fads though.

2) It was fun. The most fun I have had all summer- so far that is. The party was definitely much more fun than last year's. I guess guys do make things more fun- though I can't say the same for Barney.

3) Thanks. I will need the luck. Knowing me I will forget to keep my head in the water or something without my instructor yelling at me. :P

4) As I always am when it comes to these things...

Thanks =)
Actually I thought last year's was better--but I was thinking of after all the girls left. Balance is, apparently, a good thing.

Yes, a very good thing.
