The bookshelf
Sorry about the quality, my brother broke our camera so I had to use his DSi.
With absoloutely no stretch of your imaginations I assume you will be able to figure out what I spent almost half my day doing today, yes? For those of you who got it, congratulations, for those of you who didn't, please go away. As you may be able to tell, I am not in a pleasant mood. Why, you may ask? My brother has simply gone insane. I can not tolerate him anymore. If there was a way to mute him, and then turn him off at my leisure I would, as I would with a lot of people. For the past few days he has been hitting me, singing loudly while I attempt to watch television, dance in front of the television, take the last _______ just as I am about to have it, and lastly crank the stupid hand held radio at every possible second. It is torture I tell you! Though, I presume you are not hear to read The Rant of an Older Sister, if I know most of you, you go through it enough at home.
Cutting to the chase, I assembled a bookshelf today. I started at about 10:00 in the morning, and completed the project an hour ago, meaning at 5:00 PM. Now, I know what you are thinking, and I will admit, I am not the best with tools, drills, screws, wood, sports... -sorry, I lost myself for a second there- but it would have gone by much faster had my brother not insisted on aiding me through my journey (as he called it).
I managed to talk him into holding the wood while I drilled the screws, hammered the names, and inserted the washers and shelves, but he said he wanted to do something (in an especially annoying, whining voice)- so I hammered some nails into the wood halfway, and then gave him the hammer to complete the job. He liked hammering, but wanted to play with the nails, so as I was busy putting finishing touches on whatever he left incomplete he decided it would be appropriate to take the tiny nails out of the material bag and stab them into the instruction manual, essentially tearing it. As I turned around to look at the manual I froze, and then screamed. I am sure Jessica heard me in Montreal, in fact, my mother thinks her relatives in India must have heard it... My screaming managed to save the part I needed of the manual, but he ruined the final picture of the shelf, so I basically had no idea what I was making. Convenient eh?
I trusted myself to be able to figure out the anatomy of the bookshelf by looking at the mini diagrams on the manual, but I was fooling myself- it would never turn out the way I wanted it to... or would it?
I used my common sense, logic, and well, memory of the picture to help me construct the rest of the bookshelf, and guess what? I did it.
I built a bookshelf, all by myself! Well, I suppose my brother helped a bit... Anyway, the point is, if you have a will, you have a way... Wait, no, I mean if you put your mind to something you can do it. So as a motivation to you all, if I could assemble a bookshelf, you can do whatever you want (and so can I, I suppose).

o0 i would fail at making one
I did hammer my finger a few times...
xD
I suck at Co-ordination, but I'm pretty sure I could make one myself.
Lucky your drill works. I had to use my dads screwdriver to assemble my computer desk.
LOL! I'm quite handy with fixing things that being said, Ikea and I have a score to settle! DAMN SWEDISH and their unpronounceable furniture names!

PS: fun blog! and hi!
@Jessica- I hammered my nail at least twice and I split the wood 4 times... Though, I have to admit, it looks pretty good. I will have to take that picture soon.
@Kanishkan- I had to use the drill to make the holes bigger, I screwed everything with a Philip's screwdriver (the 'L' shaped one).
@S- Tell me about it. No matter how many times I try, I always sound like a fool when asking about the "FJÄDRAR-inner cushion"...
Thanks, I try my hardest.
I like tools and handy work too, but some manuals only pictures and no words so I can't tell what I'm building because the pictures are too small.
Handywork is fun =D
Of course, I never have to do it, because my dad thinks I will probably split the wood in two.
Yeah, I did that a few times...

The picture is so dark xD
My basement is dark. Also, the flash on the DSi is not reputable.
It IS your basement! xD
-feels dumb for not noticing-
Uh... I don't know what to say to that. I would have thought it was blatantly obvious.
Nope, I didn't really look at the background, just the shelf.
:o

:P - Whose shelf is it?
Lol @Bre Dev
Thanks Matt! It's my shelf.
